Modular bathrooms and affordable homes in the new-build project AMST

Bart Meijer (CEO MRP) and Niels Doodeman (director Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling) symbolically place a modular bathroom in the new construction project AMST next to the Amstel station in Amsterdam. AMST is a sustainable, mixed-use development, enables affordable housing for middle-income people in Amsterdam and uses modular bathrooms.

AMST – modular bathrooms in sustainable mixed-use new development

Of the 252 homes, spread over 2 buildings, 80% are for medium-price rent and 20% are homes in the free rental sector. Some of the mid-range rental homes are suitable for larger families with a house size above 100 square meters, which is quite exceptional in Amsterdam. The use of modular bathrooms also makes it possible to build more sustainably and faster. Bart Meijer, CEO MRP: “The use of a modular development and construction contributes enormously to efficiency and as a result we can offer more to the customer. Heddes, together with Ursem Modulaire Bouwsystemen, is a strong player in the “hardware” sector for this. MRP is good at software; we don't just sell the home, but a lifestyle. We are convinced that modular construction makes it possible to realize homes faster, more efficiently and more effectively and to make them accessible to everyone again.”
