The restoration study approved for the historic complex in Spetses Greece
After almost four years, the project of the Dutch company MRP for the former complex of XENIA in Spetses, one of the most characteristic properties on the island, is now progressing. The complex in Spetses includes a property of 17,730 sq.m. The Ministry of Culture, through the competent Directorate, approved the study for the restoration and functional upgrade of the existing buildings along with the study of landscaping with the addition of new buildings, in the buildings characterized by the shell of the hotel complex located in the area of Ligoneri. The building department of the municipality of Piraeus has already approved a permit in order to carry out a geotechnical survey in the hotel complex.
The Xenia Spetses Hotel is situated in Ligoneri area of Spetses, on a plot that offers unobstructed sea views and close proximity to the sea. The hotel complex will undergo complete reconstruction and upgrade to a 5* hotel, while preserving its façade, which has been designated as a Monument by the Ministry of Culture. The redeveloped complex will feature 47 suites and villas, along with amenities such as restaurants, bars, a gym and a spa. This category of buildings (tourist accommodation), with particularly remarkable features from an architectural, typological and morphological point of view is evidence of the evolution of the area during the second half of the 20th century from an architectural, cultural and cultural point of view.The complex was constructed by the architect Filippos Vokos and the team of Aris Konstantinidis and operated as "Xenia" in the 1960s.
