In the presence of the new residents, poet Jahan Valianpour unveiled a text in the entrance of The Hub. Dress for Success Amsterdam new location

The line of poet Jahan Valianpour “Every neighbor is an unread book full of secrets and mystery” has been chosen by the new residents for the entrance of the apartments The Hub. MRP and architect Jan Dittmar, in consultation with the House of Letters, have given the line a nice place in the entrance. The line of poetry was applied by Atelier Leo Mineur.

Bart Meijer, CEO MRP: “Het is a special moment that we now can deliver the first 37 apartments of the second area development of MRP at Osdorpplein. We have enjoyed working with the Municipality of Amsterdam and all parties involved to make this happen. And in particular the Huis der Letteren, through which we as MRP can also make a social contribution to poetry en art at Osdorpplein. We are looking forward to deliver the complete project in autumn this year.”

Huis der Letteren, an indispensable literary seat in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, is a literary foundation with the aim of stimulating the writing, promotion and reading of poems and stories. Jahan Valianpour comes from Iran, has lived in the Netherlands since 1991 and is closely involved with Nieuw-West. In addition to his paid work, Jahan has done a lot of voluntary work, for example, he is now a tour guide at the Molen van Sloten. Poet Gökhan Aksoy was born in Turkey, but he has lived in the Netherlands for decades. As the first District Poet of Nieuw-West, Gökhan Aksoy was commissioned to write six poems about the Amsterdam Nieuw-West district. He wrote no fewer than 17 poems that have also been collected.

The Hub/Stadsloket & kantoor/Woonzorg

In 2020, MRP realized Parking Nieuw West, the Jumbo and commercial units under the Don Bosco building. The Hub is the latest project that is now partially delivered. The City Office and City Desk with city offices will also be located in the heart of the complex. There will also be 16 extra for Woonzorg social rental housing with a new courtyard garden and entrance and a communal area for residents. The 40 private sector rental apartments will also be completed in the autumn, as well as catering and shops in the plinth. Nabila Bouabbouz of the municipality of Amsterdam New-West: “Several worlds come together in Osdorpplein. A nice balance between living, working, recreation and social and cultural facilities. We are working hard to further renew the Osdorpplein city center into a modern and complete city center of Nieuw-West. This is desperately needed, because the district is growing, comparable to a medium-sized city in the Netherlands. In recent years, 1,400 new homes have been added in Osdorpplein. The next renovation phase will deliver another 1,000 new homes.”
The Hub was developed by MRP, built by Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling and designed by Dittmar Architects. The first building that has now been completed consists of 37 comfortable owner-occupied apartments of 47 to 78 m2. Most houses have a balcony or loggia and there are shared bicycle sheds. Shops and F&B facility will be located on the ground floor of The Hub.
