The jury of the Dutch Shopping Centers Council has nominated Post Utrecht for the NRW Annual Prize 2020.
“Post Utrecht, the former main post office on the Neude in Utrecht, has been transformed into a multifunctional destination: the new center of Utrecht. The mix of functions - retail, catering, culture, leisure and public facilities - reinforce each other. Post Utrecht offers visitors and residents of Utrecht the ultimate experience, convenience and various facilities from early in the morning to late at night.
The library is a meeting place. You can not only borrow or read books, study or work here, but you can also drink coffee or have lunch. And it has an auditorium, cinema, open stage and various meeting rooms. The retail units on the Oudegracht, with a large floor space, offer retailers the space to do justice to the desired experience and service. Together with the food market and catering in the Potterstraat, it makes Post Utrecht the new shopping hotspot of Utrecht.
The previously closed bastion only had an entrance on the Neude that gave the public access to the large hall in which the post office was located. This is now fully accessible to the public with additional entrances on Oudegracht and Potterstraat. It has been redeveloped with respect for the historical and social value of the building. The multifunctional program makes it future-proof and valuable for future generations. ”
About the NRW Annual Prize
The NRW Annual Prize is awarded to the best retail development in the Netherlands. The innovative character and commercial attractiveness of the project for consumers and entrepreneurs play an important role in this.
The NRW Annual Prize 2020 will be presented on 10 December 2020.

De vak jury van de Nederlandse Raad Winkelcentra heeft Post Utrecht genomineerd voor de NRW Jaarprijs 2020.
“Post Utrecht, het voormalige Hoofdpostkantoor aan de Neude in Utrecht, is getransformeerd naar een multifunctionele bestemming: het nieuwe centrum van Utrecht. De mix van functies – retail, horeca, cultuur, leisure en openbare voorzieningen – versterken elkaar. Post Utrecht biedt bezoekers en inwoners van Utrecht een ultieme beleving, gemak en verschillende voorzieningen van ’s morgens vroeg tot ’s avonds laat.
De bibliotheek is een ontmoetingsplek. Je kunt hier niet alleen boeken lenen of lezen, studeren of werken, maar ook koffie kunt drinken of lunchen. En het heeft een auditorium, filmzaal, open podium en diverse vergaderruimten. De retailunits aan de Oudegracht, met een groot vloeroppervlakte, bieden retailers de ruimte om de gewenste beleving en dienstverlening tot zijn recht te laten komen. Samen met de foodmarkt en horeca in de Potterstraat maakt het Post Utrecht tot de nieuwe winkel hotspot van Utrecht.
Het voorheen gesloten bastion had alleen een entree aan de Neude die het publiek toegang gaf tot de grote hal waarin het postkantoor gevestigd was. Deze is nu volledig voor publiek toegankelijk met extra ingangen aan de Oudegracht en de Potterstraat. Het is herontwikkeld met respect voor de historische en maatschappelijke waarde van het gebouw. Het multifunctionele programma maakt het toekomstbestendig en waardevol voor komende generaties.”
Over de NRW Jaarprijs
De NRW Jaarprijs wordt uitgereikt aan de beste retailontwikkeling van Nederland. Het vernieuwende karakter en de commerciële aantrekkelijkheid van het project voor consumenten en ondernemers spelen daarbij een belangrijke rol.
De uitreiking van de NRW Jaarprijs 2020 vindt plaats op 10 december 2020.
