Women of Nieuw-West at WFC Amsterdam
MRP Development and WFC Amsterdam contribute to making art and culture on the Westas more accessible. The photo exhibition Women of New West is now on view at WFC Amsterdam. The outdoor exhibition is an extension of the exhibition of the same name that is currently on view in the Amsterdam Museum and consists of ten photo boards with stories of the Women of New West. The exhibition is a collaboration between Pakhuis de Zwijger and the Amsterdam Museum. The outdoor exhibition can be seen until October 1, 2020.
Women give strength and color to the neighborhood
In the photo exhibition in the Amsterdam Museum, more than 200 women and organizations from the largest, greenest, youngest and most diverse district of Amsterdam present themselves and their initiatives to the public. The exhibition is an ode to all those women who, visibly or in the background, give content, strength and color to their neighborhood, district and district. Women in New West make the difference as volunteers, professionals, mothers, residents, activists or representatives. Central is the enormous diversity of this vibrant city district.
In the additional outdoor exhibition at WFC Amsterdam, ten photo boards with photos by photographers Saskia Aukema and Willemieke Kers are introduced to eight women's groups from Amsterdam Nieuw-West. From seniors who have been living here for forty years to the youth, looking for a place in their neighborhood. From chefs to peasant women, from ballerinas to football players. Each group tells its own story, together they tell the story of the Women of New West.
Stage for culture and talent development on the Westas in Amsterdam
Over the past fifty years, the iconic WFC Amsterdam, located on the A10, has grown into a meeting place for entrepreneurship and creativity with fashion as a connecting factor.
“Offering a platform for art, culture and creative talent at this beautiful location on the Westas is very important to us. The outdoor exhibition fits well within WFC Amsterdam's plans to open up the place to the neighborhood and the city. This first outdoor exhibition of WFC Amsterdam offers local residents, visitors and everyone who works here an opportunity to view this interesting exhibition. Buitententoonstelling Vrouwen van Nieuw-West bij WFC Amsterdam
MRP Development en WFC Amsterdam leveren een bijdrage aan het toegankelijker maken van kunst en cultuur aan de Westas. De fototentoonstelling Vrouwen van Nieuw-West is nu te zien bij WFC Amsterdam. De buitententoonstelling vormt een uitbreiding van de gelijknamige tentoonstelling die op dit moment in het Amsterdam Museum te zien is en bestaat uit tien fotoborden met verhalen van de Vrouwen van Nieuw-West. De tentoonstelling is een samenwerking tussen Pakhuis de Zwijger en het Amsterdam Museum. De buitententoonstelling is te zien tot en met 1 oktober 2020.
Vrouwen geven kracht en kleur aan de wijk
In de fototentoonstelling in het Amsterdam Museum stellen ruim 200 vrouwen en organisaties uit het grootste, groenste, jongste én meest diverse stadsdeel van Amsterdam zichzelf, en hun initiatieven voor aan het publiek. De tentoonstelling is een ode aan al die vrouwen die zichtbaar of op de achtergrond, inhoud, kracht en kleur geven aan hun buurt, wijk en stadsdeel. Vrouwen in Nieuw-West maken het verschil als vrijwilliger, professional, moeder, bewoner, activist of vertegenwoordiger. Centraal staat de enorme diversiteit van dit bruisende stadsdeel.
In de aanvullende buitententoonstelling bij WFC Amsterdam maakt men aan de hand van tien fotoborden met foto’s van fotografen Saskia Aukema en Willemieke Kers kennis met acht vrouwengroepen uit Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Van senioren die hier al veertig jaar wonen tot aan de jeugd, op zoek naar een plek in hun wijk. Van koks tot boerinnen, van ballerina’s tot voetballers. Elke groep vertelt een eigen verhaal, samen vertellen ze het verhaal van de Vrouwen van Nieuw-West.
Podium voor cultuur en talentontwikkeling aan de Westas in Amsterdam
Het iconische WFC Amsterdam, gelegen aan de A10 is in de afgelopen vijftig jaar uitgegroeid tot een verzamelplaats voor ondernemerschap en creativiteit met mode als verbindende factor.
“Het bieden van een podium voor kunst, cultuur en creatief talent op deze mooie locatie aan de Westas vinden we heel belangrijk. De buitententoonstelling past goed binnen de plannen van WFC Amsterdam om de plek open te stellen voor de buurt en de stad. Op deze manier kunnen we meer verbinding tussen mensen en culturen mogelijk te maken”, aldus Marja van Reijn, Marketing & Communicatie Manager van MRP Development.
Deze eerste buitententoonstelling van WFC Amsterdam biedt omwonenden, bezoekers en iedereen die hier werkt een mogelijkheid om deze interessante tentoonstelling te bekijken.
