Cartesius Utrecht wins Blue Zone Festival Award 2024

At the first Blue Zone Festival in Zwolle, Cartesius, the large-scale inner-city area development in Utrecht, won first prize in the Property Development category. This festival is a perfect match for the Cartesius concept, where the scientific theory of Blue Zones has been applied for the first time within urban areas. Cartesius, the first Heart of Health area development in the Utrecht region, is a healthy, green and sustainable area development in line with the world-renowned blue zone principles that promote a long and healthy life. Two awards were presented: one for the best social intervention and one for the best real estate initiative. Marja van Reijn (MRP) and Carolien Vlaar (Ballast Nedam Development) accepted the award on behalf of the Cartesius consortium.

The jury report on Cartesius Utrecht in brief: "Cartesius Utrecht is a wonderful example of a high-rise urban development that is about more than just the realisation of buildings. In it, Cartesius responds to one of the challenges we face as a country: how to give shape to residential and living quality in cities where we are living ever more closely together.
