AMST most sustainable built project

AMST in Amsterdam ranks number 1 as the most sustainably built new construction project. A huge appreciation for all parties involved. Of all the projects that stood a chance of making it into the Cobouw50 projects, Cobouw requested additional sustainability information. Did the design take into account heat and drought and were measures taken to contain flooding and flood risk?

AMST is developed as water-neutral as possible, all water that falls on the plot is retained and reused. The Polderdak® is the water buffer, equipped with a dynamic control system. The water buffer meets the minimum requirement of 60mm per m2 with an excess capacity that allows rainwater to be used as grey water and irrigation of the green roof. Virtually no potable water needs to be used for toilet flushing and clean rainwater is discharged to the sewer only during periods of extreme rainfall.
