MRP and Drees & Sommer: partners in complex projects
MRP develops mixed-use areas with the mission of bringing worlds together, connecting people and locations, and creating diverse and healthy communities. MRP actually develops attractive neighborhoods and buildings is evident from the fact that the locations sell or rent well, are lively and win awards time and time again. Bart Meijer, CEO and founder of MRP, is clear about this: “We do what we are good at and in which we want to distinguish ourselves. We focus on optimizing the concept and development of a place. We work together with the specialists of Drees & Sommer for project management. Partnerships have great added value for us.”
The added value of partnerships
“We focus on the content,” Meijer continues. “On the concept, for whom are we making what and what the value is of the place in the neighbourhood, the city and for example on the rental and sale. Nowadays it is much more difficult to manage contractors, material costs are rising, the banks are not active. Extra process and project management is really necessary. Especially with large and complex projects such as the Cartesius area development in Utrecht – a project of MRP and Ballast Nedam Development.” Michel de Haan made the first contacts with MRP from Drees & Sommer Netherlands. He responds: “If you enter into a partnership with us, you also reserve capacity. You reserve good people who know and understand MRP. We often join the table from the business case. We naturally manage on time and money, but we also think along with you about whether a product is in line with the market. The great thing about our collaboration is that we can now also use it internationally. For example, we are involved together in the realization of a hotel in Greece.”
