MRP sells 162 social rental apartments to Ymere
MRP has sold 162 social rental apartments in the MIX Amsterdam new-build project to housing corporation Ymere. MIX Amsterdam on Osdorpplein in Amsterdam Nieuw-West comprises a total of 528 apartments, an open communal courtyard for residents, commercial spaces and the art and culture center “Het Verhalenhuis”. In addition, the public bicycle shed offers space for more than 400 bicycles under the Verhalenhuis. And there will be 382 additional new parking spaces, which will be directly connected to the public parking garage of Parking Nieuw West of MRP under Don Bosco.
Extra social housing at Osdorpplein in Amsterdam
Ymere has purchased 162 social rental homes, including 2, 3 and 4-room apartments, from MRP in the MIX Amsterdam new-build project. They are suitable for various target groups: from starters to seniors. The homes are being developed by MRP, realized by Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling and are equipped with a sustainable, high-quality Bruynzeel kitchen and sustainable sanitary facilities from Duravit. Ymere will become the owner of the homes upon completion, which is expected in 2026, and will then rent them out via Woningnet. The homes are a good addition to Ymere's housing supply in Amsterdam.
Erik Gerritsen, Chairman of the Ymere Board of Directors: “Ymere looks back on a very good and pleasant collaboration with MRP in the realization of this project and is looking forward to the follow-up. We look forward to welcoming our tenants to the new homes of MIX Amsterdam.”
MIX Amsterdam – living, working, facilities
MIX Amsterdam is the third phase in the area development of MRP on Osdorpplein in the Amsterdam Nieuw-West district. There will be 528 rental apartments, 162 of which will be social rental homes, an open green courtyard, extra parking spaces and a bicycle shed for more than 400 bicycles. Shops, offices and the Verhalenhuis art and culture centre will be located on the ground floor. The Verhalenhuis is a collaboration between the public library of Amsterdam, El Hizjra (center for Arab art and culture), radio station FunX and film house Oxville. The Verhalenhuis will have a broad and active program for the neighbourhood and will become an open and accessible meeting place.
Bart Meijer (CEO MRP): "MRP is very pleased to realize 162 social rental apartments on Osdorpplein with Ymere. This fits in with our ambition to develop sustainable and healthy mixed-use projects with a mix of homes for different target groups in a green and sustainable living environment, with commercial units and various facilities. An example is our AMST project at the Amstel station, where more than 200 mid-rental apartments will be delivered this summer. We look forward to continuing the pleasant collaboration with Ymere in other projects."
With MIX Amsterdam, MRP, in close cooperation with the City of Amsterdam and local residents, can continue to work on realising a high-quality, diverse living and working environment in the Osdorpplein urban centre in Amsterdam New West. MIX Amsterdam was designed by de Architekten Cie. and developed by MRP. The project will be realised by Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling, MRP's trusted partner in various projects. As in the mixed-use project The Hub on Osdorpplein completed this spring and this summer's AMST project in Amsterdam.
MRP's area development at Osdorpplein consists of several phases with the aim of improving the quality of Osdorpplein city centre for (future) residents, entrepreneurs and visitors. In the first phase, MRP completed Parking Nieuw West with 229 parking spaces, a new Jumbo supermarket and commercial units in Don Bosco in 2020. In the second phase, The Hub project, MRP realised the new City Counter with offices for the Municipality of Amsterdam, 37 owner-occupied flats, 40 free sector rental flats, commercial units that have largely been rented out, and for Woonzorg 16 additional social housing units with a new courtyard garden and communal space for residents. The second phase will be fully completed in February 2023.
