Post Utrecht - Living room of Utrecht

Post Utrecht, the striking building of the old main post office on Neude, is an extraordinary national monument dating from 1924. For decades, it was a place that connected people: letters were posted to loved ones, telegrams and faxes were sent there. People were also literally connected: from 1926 to 2016, a large part of the building was occupied by a large telephone exchange where connections were made around the world. In 2020, Post Utrecht reopened to the public after a thorough transformation. It is now a meeting place, a multifunctional destination with a library, including catering facilities and an auditorium with space for 180 visitors, shops and a large bicycle shed.

The podcast of Post Utrecht is an initiative by MRP as a present for the residents and visitors of Utrecht and co-sponsored by the municipality of Utrecht and the owner of Post Utrecht. Thanks to the support of the Utrecht Library and Rijnboutt Architects. Made by Aldus' productions. Research, text and final editing Catrien Spijkerman, music by Bram Kniest, reporting by Marjolein Knol. The role of Joke is played by Marlies Hamelynck.
