New 5-part podcast 'I connect you through...' across all podcast channels
On 4 May, Remembrance Day, the second episode of the podcast 'I connect you through' will be published, featuring the extraordinary story of PTT employee Wolter Heukels, who helped the resistance from the building on the Neude during the Second World War.
'I connect you through' is a podcast about Post Utrecht and is an initiative of MRP. The podcast was made possible by support of the Municipality of Utrecht and the owner of Post Utrecht, the Utrecht Library and Rijnboutt Architects. Made by Aldus' productions. The second episode features Ineke and Lida Heukels, among others, who tell how their grandfather Wouter Heukels secretly set up an illegal telephone network from the post office on the Neude with his colleague Leendert Lans during World War II, helping the resistance. The two were captured in October 1944 and shot in January 1945. Ineke and Lida Heukels personally tell the story of their grandfather and the impact the event still has on the family.
Every resident in Utrecht and a lot of Dutch people, know the iconic building in the city centre of Utrecht: the old post office on the Neude. Nowadays Post Utrecht, a meeting place with shops, restaurants and the library, once the 'temple of the post'. In the new podcast 'Ik verbind u door', special stories from the building's history come to life.
