Chile Vencerá mural unveiled
During the preparatory construction work in 2018 for the new construction project The Hub (93 homes, the new Stadsloket and District Office and a commercial plinth), the mural 'Chile Vencerá', 20 meters long and 3.40 meters high, was discovered. The work is by the Chilean artist collective Brigada Ramona Parra, which expressed its ideologies for democracy and equal rights among other things with murals. The meaning of the artwork is more topical than ever in today's troubled world. Paul Trip on behalf of the initiator MRP: “Art and Culture connects and in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, where so many cultures live together, this mural in Osdorpplein gives an extra dimension. We are therefore pleased that, thanks in part to the Municipality of Amsterdam and the Kroonenberg Group, we can contribute to the restoration and preservation of the mural 'Chile Vencerá in order to transfer its meaning to future generations.'
