Cartesius, an example of a large-scale healthy urban neighborhood in the world, will finally be in Utrecht. The zoning plan for the large-scale healthy area development Cartesius Utrecht has become irrevocable. More than 2800 homes will be built in Cartesius, next to Zuilen train station. Never before on this scale such a statement has been made for an inner-city area development, in which all aspects of a long, healthy and happy life come together. A living environment that enables residents and visitors to automatically do what is good for people and nature.
Bart Meijer, CEO MRP: “We can now really start to realize this new, healthy urban district in Utrecht. And that is important to be able to meet the high demand for housing in the Netherlands. Cartesius will be the place where residents themselves can influence their living environment. There will be a good mix of different housing types, so that everyone can find a suitable home for every stage of their life.” In the plan there is a great deal of variety and a large number of special target groups, creating an inclusive society. In addition to the mid-term rental homes in phase 1, there will also social rental homes, rental homes in the private sector and owner-occupied homes and owner-occupied apartments.
